Veterinary Technician Appointments: Expert Care with a Personal Touch

Not every housecall requires a veterinarian to provide care. In many cases, skilled veterinary technicians can handle specific services independently or with minimal supervision, ensuring your pet receives the attention they need in a comfortable, familiar environment. These visits are referred to as veterinary technician appointments.

We’re proud to have Matt, our wonderful Certified Veterinary Assistant Level II, as a key part of our team. Matt has been working in veterinary care since 2005 and brings a calm, gentle touch to every appointment. Currently pursuing his Licensed Veterinary Technician degree, he is dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to every pet he encounters.

Once a week, Matt offers his services in the Tyler area on Tech Appointment Day, where he provides a variety of non-invasive treatments and minor care for your pet’s needs.

Services Offered During Vet Technician Appointments Include:

  • Solensia or Librela Injections – Monthly injections used to manage osteoarthritis pain by targeting nerve growth factor (NGF), a protein that contributes to inflammation and pain in these conditions.
  • Pet Laser Therapy (Photobiomodulation) – A non-invasive treatment using low-intensity lasers or LEDs to promote healing, reduce pain, and alleviate inflammation in pets with conditions such as arthritis, muscle injuries, or wounds.
  • Cytopoint – Every 4 to 8 weeks injectable treatment for dogs with environmental allergies, helping to relieve itching and inflammation. It works by stopping the itch signal, breaking the cycle of constant scratching, and does so without relying on steroids or other immune-suppressing medications.
  • Wound Care – For minor wounds that have been assessed by a veterinarian and require ongoing care or dressing changes.

We’re excited to begin offering these technician-led services starting in June 2025, allowing Matt to apply his specialized training to help improve the comfort and well-being of your pets.

At NPLH, we are committed to providing compassionate, expert care in a way that is convenient and stress-free for both you and your pet. We look forward to continuing to serve you and your pet in this new and exciting capacity!
